New Telehealth Clients

Clients

Clients include individuals, families, groups, and businesses yet my mission is to serve the community at large.

What to Expect

Paperwork, policies, and services will be discussed during the first 10-15 minutes of the first visit. An interview assessment is then conducted which helps with a better understanding of your situation and form an agreed plan.  Sessions typically last about 45-50 minutes but may vary depending on the service provided. Please be sure to provide at least 48 hours notice if you can’t make your scheduled appointment.

If applicable, out-of-pocket fees such as self-pay, copays, or deductible payments are expected before each session.  Cash, checks, and credit/debt cards are accepted.  Counseling sessions are covered by most commercial health insurances.  It is your responsibility to know your insurance benefits and ensure sessions are paid in full but A.B.L.E. can confirm benefit details and submit claims for sessions to the insurance company.  If you do not have insurance or an EAP on the following list ask about out-of-network benefits, single case exceptions, and self-pay options.

Telehealth or Distant Counseling

Telehealth, a service I have been providing since 2011, uses technology to provide mental health services from a distance without having to meet at an in-person office. Telehealth has increasingly become a valuable option for many people for a variety of reasons. Pros and cons of telehealth can be found on the Telehealth Informed Consent form, which is required before starting. There are a variety of technologies that make this safe, confidential, and affordable.

The majority of states (including Missouri) have passed telehealth “Parity Laws” that require private insurers to cover remote sessions similar to in-person sessions. If you are concerned about coverage we can discuss financials. I am in-network for most commercial insurances and EAPs in Missouri, however I may also practice in other states and many places outside of the United States in which insurance may need to be called to inquire coverage. Video chatting is preferred rather than just a voice call and in some cases the only option.

Google Meet is used for video chatting unless your insurance or 3rd party payer prefers a different platform. Google Meet is a secure service that is free to you, uses little resources, and is quick and easy to use.  From a PC or laptop you can simply join using your browser. You may need to download the app and sign into a Google account if you are using a mobile device. Please download and test the app well before your first time using it for our sessions.  If a different platform is needed we will discuss the details.

Be sure your correct email is on file with me. This is how a link to our video chat will be sent.  If you have any payment responsibility such as a co-pay, the invoice will also be sent to your email on file. Here are some ideas for preparing before your telehealth sessions: Preparing For Telehealth Sessions.
